Ringabel sits on the park bench in thought, having once again found an afternoon to himself to do whatever he pleased. Normally, he would be off and about searching for a female he had yet to date, but for some reason he just wasn’t up for it. It was one of those days where his mind got the better of him, questioning just who he was. Had been. Clues in the form of numerous scars marked his body all over, giving Ringabel a sign that he must have been a warrior of some sort. Even though there were so many, and of so many shapes and sizes, he didn’t even know how he had gotten a single one.

Ringabel pulls up his sleeve over his right arm, spotting one of the larger scars that must have hurt when he had gotten it, or so he presumed. Before he can touch it, however, a familiar female’s hand traces it over with great interest. When had Rue…? Startled, Ringabel jumps a bit, but settles down immediately as not to scare her. It must be odd to her, to see such an ugly thing on him. “I don’t mind if you touch them. It’s okay if you don’t want to, either.”

Rue turns bright red and stammers for a few moments before grinning. “You utter charmer, you. I know quite a few men who could take lessons in manners from you.”

She stretches and lets out a soft happy noise. “I really must make a garden of my own if ever I get back to Ailily. This is very soothing.”

“Figured it out already, have we?” Ringabel smirks that charming smile of his as Rue stretches happily. “How far is this Ailily? If you’d like, I could help you start now.”

"Ailily is… Well, there’s the problem, isn’t it? I have no idea. Harold’s little experiment quite literally blew up in my face, and when I woke up…" She shrugs and smiles. "There are worse places to be lost, at least!"

“You don’t….remember anything?” Ringabel questions her. Were they truly not that different after all? How could she be so happy and carry on like it was just another day in the life. That felt wrong, so wrong that someone as innocent as her had to go through the same pain he did. Still, he manages a smile. “But this certainly is the place to be found.” Orchids. He had to get her orchids when next they met.

"Not between the boom and walking into town, anyway. It’s not like most of my memories are even mine." She looks more bothered by that than by the gap.

"Besides, this world is so beautiful, and I don’t have the Tree yanking me about whenever it feels like it."

Rue turns absolutely scarlet and starts giggling again, playfully smacking his arm. “You enjoy making me blush far too much!” You won’t catch her denying that it’s a nice change, mind, to the usual behaviour she puts up with. Ringabel is actually fun to be around, for a start!

"What about you? Are there any flowers you like?"

“Ah ha, she’s figured me out.” Ringabel feigns surprise as his arm is then batted at playfully. She was a breath of fresh air compared to his companions and others he knew. He almost felt more appreciated, as Rue always seemed to react with a smile and blush. “There is one flower I love above all, but you’ll never guess what it is.”

"Hrm… The flowers in question wouldn’t happen to be the female of the species by any chance?" She giggles again and stoops to carefully part the leaves of a bush to let some light down to a tiny seedling below. "There you go, little cos."

“Perhaps.” Ringabel watches as Rue tenderly cares for a seedling beneath a nearby bush. “Need another hint? It’s known for grace and medical use.”

Rue turns bright red and stammers for a few moments before grinning. “You utter charmer, you. I know quite a few men who could take lessons in manners from you.”

Rue grins wide and happy. “I love gardens! And parks, and forests… anywhere with lots of plants.” Anywhere that’s full of plants and not the World Tree anyway.

"Come on, I can smell the flowers from here!"

“Okay, okay.” Ringabel laughs, a true, genuine laugh as Rue pulls him to the source of the flowery scent. He would have to keep that in mind. Rue loved flowers. The next time he ran into her, he would have a bouquet with him as a thank you. Her eagerness was infectous as he found himself willing to see every flower there was with her. “Which is your favorite? If you had to pick?”

"Oh, now that is a difficult question.” Rue giggles as she leads Ringabel into a small park. It’s nothing overly fancy, more like a large garden than anything, but from the look on Rue’s face she’d rather be here than in the fanciest of palaces.

"I think… probably orchids. There’s just something about them that I love."

For just a large garden with a few different kinds of flowers, it was the simple style of it that made it so beautiful. If Ringabel didn’t know any better, he’d think Rue was just as estatic to be in a cozy little place like this than that of the grand kingdoms and palaces he had seen on their own travels. It suited her, if that made sense. “Orchids, mmm? As I recall they mean beauty and grace, as well as strength and love. How fitting they found a flower after you.”

Rue turns absolutely scarlet and starts giggling again, playfully smacking his arm. “You enjoy making me blush far too much!” You won’t catch her denying that it’s a nice change, mind, to the usual behaviour she puts up with. Ringabel is actually fun to be around, for a start!
